Teresa is of Mexican and Native American Indian heritage. She grew up on the beach in Los Angeles and studied Film & Photography in the lofty hills of San Francisco, making her home close to the Golden Gate Bridge in the Marin town of Sausalito. She grew up surrounded by alternative minds which fostered new ways of thinking, being and relating to the world. Especially guided by her Mother and Mentor, who is a healer, nurse and nutritionist, she learned from her not only the importance of good food & exercise (especially dance), how to prevent illness and heal with natural & alternative remedies (as well as traditional ones), but mostly how to relate to people sincerely, deeply and with the gift of "The Knowing", or the Truth.
One day in January 1993, while daydreaming about her future, she was rear-ended by a large utility vehicle. It was at that time that she first discovered the benefits of Massage Therapy, the only remedy which seemed to bring any relief. What ensued was a 10 year odyssey of pain and suffering. Frustrated from years of discomfort and after contemplating the notion of becoming "pain free", she decided to study and learn about her own pain. This decision turned into a life changing experience. As she approached the massage table for the first time and reached out to touch her fellow student, suddenly she was struck with the simple and unequivocal knowledge that she was meant to do this as her life work and that she had done it in other lifetimes. During that epiphical summer of awakening she felt her Ancestors and Angels surround her. She immediately began to move Energy, sense hidden causes of pain, massage instinctively and "know" intuitively the many points and meridians of the body. Her path to becoming a Healer was set in motion and she continues to work in this way to this day.
Teresa earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Photography with a minor in Art History at the San Francisco Art
Institute, San Francisco, California. She studied Acupressure and Chinese Medicine at the
Acupressure Institute, Berkeley, California and completed her Master's degree in Art Therapy and Expressive Psychotherapy at the
ICTEP: Institute for Creative(Art) Therapy and Expressive Psychotherapy, Amersfoort, The Netherlands.
Teresa speaks English, Spanish and Dutch. She lives principally in Amsterdam and part-time in Sausalito, California with her Dutch husband & son.
